When I do the following: gm convert foo.tif bar.png (where foo.tif is a 200dpi color scanned file -- probably a Canon from what I am reading about them using the 'old style') I get the following message: gm convert: Old-style JPEG compression support is not configured.

Which would suggest that it *can* be configured, but I find nothing in the documentation or the source code to suggest how to do this. There are hints about recompiling ImageMagick with LZW support, but not "old style JPEG" support. I am running sid/experimental.

One of my fallback plans would be to identify the file using ImageMagick and if it's a TIFF then use tiffcp or tiff2bw to do the work, but on trying them I get a "Old Style JPEG compression support not enabled message" in the latest binaries (3.73)
