We have a Windows 2008 Server that is hosting a web site and I'm trying to get it setup to support IPv6. I have confirmed the IPv6 connectivity to this server is working and that the Windows 2008 firewall is not blocking anything.

AFAIK, all Tomcat connectors support IPv6 if your JVM and OS support IPv6 (and tcnative/apr support IPv6 if you are using APR). If you are having a specific problem, please start another thread and give as much configuration and error message/behavior detail as possible.

Machine details: Windows 2008 server machine, 32-bit OS Java version: jdk1.6.0_25 The web server is not accessible using the IPv6 address. The connectivity to windows server machine works fine though IPv6 address. The firewall is turned off.

Tomcat7 absolutely has no problems with IPv6. I am using this setup for some time now. Even Tomcat6 I sucessfully ran on IPv6. I'd expect that it does not depend on the version of tomcat but the version of your JVM. Java supports IPv6 since version 1.4.

Apr 23, 2012 · It appears that Tomcat has bound itself to an IPv6 address (if I understand correctly; I don't know much about IPv6). It is listening on the port, but doesn't respond to my browser request (which is presumably an IPv4 request?). Is there any way I can either get Tomcat using regular tcp or access it through a web browser?

Sep 13, 2015 · I’m trying to set up a Tomcat over Java to run in a IPv6 only test network with no luck. I can’t get the ports 8080, 8081 and 8082 to bind to IPv6. I’ve dug around in both Tomcat and Java and found what I thought were some promising fixes like Java’s java.net.preferIPv4Stack=false and java.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true.

That means tomcat is actually listening to my local link ipv6 address. This approach is working but the only problem with this approach is that I have to mention the address in server.xml.
