Apr 21, 2010 · The solution is to transition to a new protocol that is designed to scale to hundreds of billions of nodes. Such a new protocol, known as IPv6, has been finalised in 1996, and we've been busy implementing IPv6 support in software and …

Oct 10, 2016 · This is a follow up on Trac#2236.. In the Trac discussion, it is mentioned that IPv6 support requires changes to libevent. I decided to check this, but it turns out that IPv6 works fine with the current libevent.. You can verify this yourself by applying this dirty hack, which disables IPv4 and listens to IPv6 instead. Proof that it works.

The problem is that transmission tries to forcefully load IPV6 module (which does not exist!) and thus causing all sorts of alerts on my system and is filling up my logs, hence IPV6 support needs to be disabled (in transmission!) so that it does not attempt silly things like (trying to) load IPv6 modules which do not exist.

I have an ipv6-only machine Is there any way I can use rpc interface? Nope, as said before, transmission's rpc uses libevent, which only supports IPv4. So you need to enable IPv4 (at least locally), to use it. Libevent is going to support IPv6 when they integrate libevhtp, although it seems they are not working on it yet. So I guess it will ...

IPv6 is an Internet Layer protocol for packet-switched internetworking and provides end-to-end datagram transmission across multiple IP networks, closely adhering to the design principles developed in the previous version of the protocol, Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4).. In addition to offering more addresses, IPv6 also implements features not present in IPv4.
