    Nov 03, 2010 · Actually, there is nothing wrong with TRIM support in Linux. You need a kernel > 2.6.32 and ext4 as file system with "discard" as additional mount option in your fstab. From Mint 9 on, there is also an automatic alignment of your partitions to match the SSD blocks (what otherwise would degrade write performance) if you install freshly.

The post seems to imply that file systems are already ready to support ATA TRIM for SSDs, but the vendors are holding back on hardware TRIM support. Maybe it's hard to find talk about kernel-side TRIM support in SSDs because no SSDs support TRIM yet.
