Jun 20, 2018 · I've had trouble similar to this if I uninstalled the Setup Support Files before uninstalling SQL Server. I would try reinstalling SQL Server 2016 Standard (the one you're having trouble uninstalling). This should install your setup support files. If that is successful, then uninstall Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (64-bit) first.
