Feb 07, 2011 · Let me shed some light on this issue: There are currently two different types of UPEK applications (and drivers) available - a legacy app and a "WBF" app. While the legacy application can be installed and used on any version of Windows including XP, Vista and W7 as well, the WBF application can be installed and used only on Windows 7 that supports the Windows Biometric Framework API.
