It means that VDPAU will not work properly on Radeon cards. The only possible way to change that behavior is by specifying the correct back-end driver manually. First you need to find the name of the driver related to your hardware (here we assume that the vdpau USE flag was enabled and the system was updated successfully). One way to find that ...

The PureVideo SIP core needs to be supported by the device driver, which provides one or more interfaces such as NVDEC, VDPAU, VAAPI or DXVA.One of these interfaces is then used by end-user software, for example VLC media player or GStreamer, to access the PureVideo hardware and make use of it.. Nvidia's proprietary device driver is available for multiple operating systems and support for ...

General What is it. VDPAU (Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix) lets Nvidia and AMD/ATI uvd cards play video with hardware acceleration. It lets any Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD system play files, including highly complex H.264 formats produced by the Hauppauge HD-PVR, that would otherwise require a high-end multicore CPU.. It in essence provides what PureVideo/DirectX Video Acceleration ...

Nov 23, 2016 · Currently, VDPAU does not seem to support HEVC Main10 at all even where the hardware should support it. (For example, `vdpauinfo` returns β--- not supported ---β on HEVC_MAIN_10 on a GTX 960) From what I understand, HEVC Main10 is supported via other hardware decoding APIs (e.g. d3d11va) on suitable hardware.

For hardware video decoding, which may be necessary on low-performance CPUs to playback 1080p content, make sure your GPU or VPU supports either VAAPI or VDPAU. For everything but older AMD cards and Nvidia, VAAPI is recommended. On AMD, you might have to start with the environment variable KODI_GL_INTERFACE set to GLX in order to get VDPAU ...
