The Victim Support Unit was established to ensure effective prevention, investigation and excellent service delivery when dealing with cases of gender-based violence and in particular with femicide, property grabbing, spouse battering and sexual abuse of girl children. The Unit was established through the Zambia Police Amendment Act No. 14 of 1999.
