    When I try to run a program in windows xp mode it says there are no direct3D accelerated devices installed. Usually this has to do with your video card drivers. Within xp mode all the drivers say they are installed. Even if you look at your screen savers, all the 3D ones do not work. If you have xp mode check your screen savers.
