    I am trying to run Altium Designer 10 in a Windows XP virtual machine and have installed the "experimental" 3D support in the guest and selected the 3D option on the host. Altium Designer requires DirectX 9.0c which must include shader model 3 support.

    I tried to install the new MS Flight beta on WinXP in VB4.1.8 I keep 3D acceleration activated with 128 MB dedicated to VideoRAM. My Host is Linux Ubuntu 11.10, and the card is a NVidia G104M The installation work, but on Flight start it detect "no Shader 3 support" and close.

    Most of the heavy work is done -- the Wine project has been wrapping Direct3D games for years, and VirtualBox has some awesome OpenGL support. All that is needed now is to make WineD3D play nice with VirtualBox, and we will have Direct3D support on Windows guests.     Forgive me for asking what's probably a stupid question (I'm new to VB), but there's an option in VirtualBox (version 2.1.4) to enable 3D Acceleration support, yet my guest OS still complains it can't find 3D hardware. Does this option not work, or am I missing something? Jon
