Dec 16, 2008 · I was wondering what, if any, support for dual-core processors VLC (For Windows) has. I have a dual-core Pentium D 940 (3.2GHz 4MB Cache) and have trouble playing HD content. The Playback jumps, skips, and all kinds of stuff when playing larger HD files, and when I look at my system resources the problem is clear.

Mar 31, 2013 · How do I raise the multi-core CPU limit? Hello, I was just playing an extremely high-def video (1440p) using 64-bit VLC on my Windows 7 x64 ultrabook and it is stuttering. I checked Resource Monitor and it shows total CPU maxing out at between 25 and 30%.

In any case, the quad core seemed to make more use of the cores when streaming, and the dual seemed to use less. Maybe it is something about process switching, or the processes blocking eachother on dual core systems. Oh, and Dirt3 seemed fine (although still 90-100 ms latency) streaming from the quad. No nasty spikes during play.
