I'd love to enable USB 2.0 for my WinXP VMs without having to uninstall player, install workstation, perform the upgrade, uninstall workstation, and re-install player.

Jul 18, 2007 · It sounds like you opened a virtual machine from an earlier version of VMware Workstation or ACE, which didn't have USB 2.0 support. We don't automatically upgrade that VM to the latest format, in case you want to continue using it with the older VMware software that created it.

It says WS 5x series do not support USB 2.0, but I'm on 6.5.1 So, how do I fix this? The host is SuSE 11.1 Linux, the client is Windows 2000. Thanks in advance, Andy

Jun 14, 2007 · On the virtual image I use a WinXP SP2 os. The virtual image was first installed on a Beta 1 or 2, I don't remember exactly, and I don't know if this could be of interest. Anyway, I installed last week Beta 4 and upgraded the virtual machine. My problem right now is the impossibility to enable the USB 2.0 support.

Mar 28, 2006 · I don't think the iPod specifically requires USB 2.0, though it is of course painfully slow without it (note that USB support in Workstation 5 can exceed the speed of USB 1.1, even though it doesn't implement USB 2.0 features). I've used iPods with physical machines that only had USB 1.1 controllers and it worked (painfully slowly).
