But it seems that the "lm" CPU flag is not available within the virtual machine, also the machine is marked with 64-bit. I think RedHat Enterprise EM64T should work inside a virtual machine.

Jul 30, 2010 · When I power on the Data Recovery VM, and after it starts the boot process, it displays a message "Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32 bit distribution" ... You can't run 64-bit guests if your ESX is a VM itself. VMware Workstation doesn't pass through the VT extensions which are needed to run a 64-bit guest such as VDR.
