tried to get 5.0.3rc2 running with postgresql. had to create database first. then had to learn that choosing utf-8 as encoding was a not-so-good idea (vtiger can't handle it). had to recreate it using latin-1.

as a minor version release, vtigercrm-4.2.4 should be limited to bugfixes. however, there are special circumstances that lead me to argue that lack of postgresql support is a bug, and should be included, if it can be fixed in time. - adodb-4.71 (now bundled) should have the upstream fix cited as a blocker postgresql support

During the pre-install check vTiger shows "Database Extension: No". If i continue with the install it does start creating tables in the postgresql database but fails at one point after 305 tables created. I'm assuming since this includes ADOdb, it should support a whole bunch of different DB types. I hope someone can help.

Apr 24, 2006 · Richie, In my view it is a must for vTiger 5 to support PostgreSQL. This is a sensitive topic here, so I'll try to be objective and not start a flame war: 1. MySQL is not opensource, it requires $ and a license to use it commercially --which as someone pointed out earlier, is the main driver for using vTiger in the first place, to make money.
