However the WD TV Live HD Media player, WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player and WD TV HD Media Player (WDBABx) will play DTS audio in 2 channels without the need for an audio receiver that can decode the codec.

Oct 15, 2015 · DTS-HD MA (or HR) is not supported due to lack of licensing. The hardware supports it; it’s just not enabled in the firmware. Any DTS-HD tracks will only output their DTS 5.1 “core”.

Feb 17, 2014 · The thing is - the newer (yet still quite old already model) WDTV Live has received a firmware update last December and is already capable of managing DTS-HD MA, but my model seems to have no support any more from WD and is unlikely to get this update. Not really desperate to change the player right now, but started looking for some options.
