May 23, 2016 · I had a label printer with a parallel port connected with a USB to Parallel cable working perfectly in Windows 7. The cable is an ATEN UC-1248B. Now Windows 10 recognises the cable BUT does recognise the printer - it says no printer attached. I went out and bought a generic USB to Parallel Printer cable and it too gives me the same problem.

If this is the only printer, this should be easy. Right click on the one that is greyed out and click Uninstall Device, then click uninstall.
