May 02, 2016 · When trying to add a local printer (HP Laser Jet 6L) connected to my Windows 7 Professional Dell laptop via a USB port, the Virtual USB (USB001) port option is not listed in the printer port drop down list. There are no USB port options listed. Creating a new port does not work either.

In Windows 7 I am confident that I have installed the correct EPSON printer, and additionally I have installed the EPSON Virtual Printer Driver. I'm trying to use an old parallel-port based printer with a USB-to-parallel port adapter on Windows 7. When I plug it into the USB port on the computer it's listed as an unrecognized device.
