Aug 31, 2017 · windows media player not playing dvd in windows 8.1 when i am opening DVD DRIVE F in this pc without installing third party apps like vlc the dvd movie is not playing as it opens sub parts of movie of small durations and same dvd is playing with vlc but i dont like to have vlc if i have having windows media player.

With all the hoopla about the recent announcement from Microsoft that Windows 8 will not support DVD playback nativly, I kinda confused on why everyone seems so upset and shocked. This does not mean that you will not be able to play DVD on Windows 8 machines, it only means that Windows will not include the DVD decoder within Windows Media Center

Feb 28, 2014 · 1) The DVD Drive is not detected in the windows explorer even though there seems to be no problems detected in the device manager. I am attaching the screenshot with the reply. 2) I have tried updating the drivers for the DVD Driver and there was no change in the DVD drive status. I have tried Method 1 and Method 2 to no gain.
