When you say HDMI I assume that you actually mean the sound part of the connector, so the video will work regardless as its part of the electrical standard that all video uses (it will work outside of the OS, so the OS is irrelevant).

With XP, i'd nothing to configure, it was fully working since i'had installed audio & video drivers. No need to change anything in the settings.
