Please post the commands you used to determine that wlan0 doesn't support scanning, along with any additional output those commands output. Also, please tell us what hardware you're using (is this an integrated network device, or a USB dongle, etc., what is the make and model?)

Apr 29, 2010 · When I try to run the "iwlist scanning" command I get the message "interface doesn't support scanning" on everything except wlan0 which adds network down. I am using a Belkin USB device for wireless and it detects it with "lsusb".

Dec 26, 2011 · iwlist sc' shows: 'wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down' is because you have your wireless turned off. if you write "ifconfig wlan0 up" and then "iwconfig wlan0 scan" you should see a list of nearby access points

I try to scan wireless networks. If network-manager service is up and wifi interface connected, iwlist give only one cell - the same it connected with, but if I try disconnect wifi interface by shutting down network-manager interface, iwlist give no result at all.
