Mar 09, 2017 · Android itself doesn't natively support WMA for this reason, however manufacturers may add it if they wish. Try Rocket Player instead, that supports WMA no problem as it uses it's own codecs rather than whatever is in the phone's firmware. MX will play WMA as well, same with VLC.
