Windows Media Centre is still one of the best media centre applications available, however at present the only option for a "bitperfect" output stream is to use a 3rd party media application such as Foobar or J-River Media Centre which can use either WASAPI or ASIO.

Sooooo, **IF** Windows Media Player could be "coerced" or "hacked/fooled" into using the "WASAPI loopback speaker data" as input then the problem would be solved!

I'm trying to get a gound sound within windows 7, and i've found that with my sound system bit perfect output sounds best by far. Foobar2000 with WASAPI exkl. or ASIO sounds great, but i have a strong preference for the music management in WMP 12 / WMC.

Jun 03, 2016 · The VSTi and BASSMIDI user mode drivers use WASAPI shared mode where it is supported. But Peter's WASAPI Component works in exclusive mode. I know the benefits of low latency. Assuming one doesn't need bit-perfect output and DirectSound is not broken as Case mentions, i can't see a good reason to use WASAPI on foobar2000.
