Apr 11, 2014 · Are there any XSLT Processors that support both XSLT 2.0 and StAXSource? As an alternative, is there a way to transform a XMLStreamReader into something that SAXON can support (e.g. A StringReader for StreamSource)? A last resort would be to figure out this Muenchian grouping and discount XSLT 2.0 altogether, but I don't like that idea.

The current release fixes a security issue that was registered against version 2.7.1. The old Xalan-J 2.7.1 distributions are still available on the Apache Archives. This is a mature project. There has been some discussion about supporting XPath-2. We could use your support in this major rework of the library.

Xalan-Java is an XSLT processor for transforming XML documents into HTML, text, or other XML document types. It implements XSL Transformations (XSLT) Version 1.0 and XML Path Language (XPath) Version 1.0 and can be used from the command line, in an applet or a servlet, or as a module in other program.

Similarly, the language also provides support for both sequences (from XSLT 2.0 onward) and arrays (XSLT 3.0). The distinction between the two is subtle: in a sequence, if you add a new sequence to an existing sequence, the result is just another sequence - there are no boundaries of containment.

Xalan is an XSLT processor for transforming XML documents into HTML, text, or other XML document types. Xalan-C++ version 1.10 is a robust implementation of the W3C Recommendations for XSL Transformations (XSLT) and the XML Path Language (XPath). It works with a compatible release of the Xerces-C++ XML parser: Xerces-C++ version 2.7.0.

But my guess is that XSLT 2.0, meaning also XPath 2.0, is a huge specification compared to 1.0, with a proportional increase in complexity and development effort. > We have a fairly strong business need to support XSLT 2.0 in the near > future, and it looks like the only other portable processor is Saxon, > with its potential IP concerns.
