2006-2-25 · i think i remember why we removed the builtin xvid codec. we couldnt detect any visual difference, so we decided to remove xvid codec to save mem. ffmpeg handles alot more than xvid already our ffmpeg isnt that old either if memory serves. sure we're still on mplayerpre6 but im quite sure ffmpeg was updated to pre7 or even newer a while ago.https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=18081

2012-11-14 · The problem is likely that the audio is being passed through the TV and the TV probably doesn't support passthrough of AC3 or DTS from an external source, in this case HDMI. Unticking "dts capable receiver / ac3 capable receiver" means that XBMC will now be decoding the AC3/DTS tracks to PCM which the TV can passthough.https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=144990

This PR depends on #5374 (needs BitstreamConverter patch for HEVC). HEVC using AMLCodec is working on all sample files I could get.
