Dec 11, 2009 · Poor SRT support is XBMC's biggest weakness as I see it. I remember reading somewhere that this is because of the player used, but can't they use vobsub or whatever it is that VNC and various codec packs are bundled with? It is common nowadays that HTML tags are used in SRT subtitles (for colours etc..).

Sep 20, 2010 · Hi conceiva, First of all, thanks for all your effort to deliver such a good software. I am now using XMBC as player connecting to Mezzmo 2.1.8. Most of my videos have external subtitle files, mostly are SRT files. But the subtitle is not showing on XBMC playback. I am chinese. So all the video and subtitle files have chinese characters.

My miniDLNA server doesn't seem to stream the srt files (named the same as the video and utf-8 encoded) to my playback devices. I have tested this with my ps3 and android phone. Does minidlna not support it (found mixed answers to this around the net)? Or is it a ps3/android issue? Or maybe it requires some configuration I missed? Please advise.
