Jan 22, 2014 · For the files I'm having an issue with, I see the Dolby Digital. The Audio stream is AC3 5.1 and the audio output is HDMI. On the receiver settings, there's an option for Dolby Digital in the Listening Mode Presets. You can set it to a bunch of different things (the default is something like Last Valid for all of them).

Mar 11, 2016 · In other word, when enable Dolby digital (AC3) capable Receiver, Kodi will automatically attempt to direct play AC3 audio if the audio in PCM format, but if the video/container are not compatible then you will get no audio at all. To solve no sound with Kodi issues, you can go to Settings/System/Audio output settings as a reference method.

Apr 04, 2015 · SPDIF only supports 2 channel PCM digital audio. AC3 and DTS are audio formats where 5.1 information is compressed into the two channels. The other multi-channel audio formats that are disabled will be decoded to PCM and then compressed into AC3 for your receiver". My amp is now recognising Dolby D 5.1 input from all 5.1 XBMC tracks.

It you have a mixture of equipment where some can decode Dolby TrueHD and some can only decode Dolby Digital, then 2 audio tracks are required, one containing the Dolby TrueHD audio upto 7.1 channels and one containing Dolby Digital upto 5.1 channels, however having 2 audio tracks will likely negate any space saving over DTS-HD MA.
