iOS 12 is only supported by the beta of Xcode 10 or higher. If you want to use your iPhone 8 with this iOS version (NOT RECOMMENDED) with your Xcode 9.4 you can try to download the last beta of Xcode 10 and after connecting the iPhone to the mac go to this folder:

Could not locate device support files. This iPhone X (Model A1865, A1901, A1902, A1903) is running iOS 11.1 (15B93), which may not be supported by this version of Xcode. I'm running the latest version of Xcode (Beta 9.2 9C32c) which doesn't support the iPhone X (iOS 11.1).

Nov 17, 2017 · Does anyone have a fix for this yet other then downloading XCode 9.1 beta? I'm in Australia on really crappy internet so downloading a new XCode takes about a day for me and I would like to get something way before that.
