I don't know if current models have a different/newer motherboard than yours or mine, but the XPS M1730's being offered on the US site, can be specified with up to a Core2Duo Extreme X9000 @ 2.8GHz (for a price!) - or a T9500 @ 2.6GHz. You're probably best contacting tech support for confirmation of your upgrade options though.

Oct 16, 2011 · On purchasing the m1730 there was an option for a 32bit or 64bit processor, maybe this is the option you are remembering... There is a Core 2 Duo X9100 processor which sounds great but its FSB (1066MHz) is above the m1730's chipset which only supports 533 & 800 MHz.
