Enabling large page support (AIX) - IBM

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEPGG_11.1.0/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.dbobj.doc/doc/t0010405.html
In addition to the traditional page size of 4 KB, the POWER7 processors (and higher) on IBM® Power Systems also support variable page sizes. Applications such as IBM Db2 Version 11.1 for AIX, that require intensive memory access and that use large amounts of virtual memory can gain performance improvements by using large pages.

Large pages - IBM

AIX® supports large page usage by both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. The POWER4 large page architecture requires all the virtual pages in a 256 MB segment to be the same size. AIX supports this architecture by using a mixed mode process model such that some segments in a process are backed with 4 KB pages, while other segments are backed with 16 MB pages.

Enabling large page support (AIX) - IBM

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEPGG_10.5.0/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.dbobj.doc/doc/t0010405.html
In addition to the traditional page size of 4 KB, the POWER4 processors (and higher) on System z® also support a 16 MB page size. Applications such as IBM® DB2 Version 10.5 for AIX, that require intensive memory access and that use large amounts of virtual memory can gain performance improvements by using large pages.

IBM IV08309: 64K PAGE SIZE DOESNOT SUPPORT FULL MAX ...

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1IV08309
Some of the client filesystem interfaces in AIX (e.g. vm_releasep()) may fail with EINVAL when the filesystem uses 64K page-size for files and attempts to operate on the last 64K page in a 16TB file.

Working with the LDR_CNTRL environment variable (AIX)

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSYKE2_8.0.0/com.ibm.java.vm.80.doc/docs/j9_configure_aix_ldr_cntrl.html?origURL=SSYKE2_8.0.0/com.ibm.java.aix.80.doc/user/aix_ldr_cntrl_page_sizes.html
The LDR_CNTRL environment variable controls the way AIX® handles the memory space available to a 32-bit program and the page sizes used in each segment. The POWER4 and later processors support the use of 16 MB large pages in addition to the default 4 KB pages. The POWER5 and later processors add support for two new page sizes, 64 KB and 16 GB.

IBM IV07785: 64K PAGE SIZE DOESNOT SUPPORT FULL MAX ...

Some of the client filesystem interfaces in AIX (e.g. vm_releasep()) may fail with EINVAL when the filesystem uses 64K page-size for files and attempts to operate on the last 64K page in a 16TB file.

pagesize Command - IBM

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_aix_72/p_commands/pagesize.html?origURL=ssw_aix_72/com.ibm.aix.cmds4/pagesize.htm
Purpose. Displays the system page size. Syntax. pagesize [ -a] [ -f]. Description. The pagesize command prints the size, in bytes, of a page of memory, as returned by the getpagesize subroutine. Provided for system compatibility, this command is useful when constructing portable shell scripts.

db2set DB2_MEDIUM_PAGE_SUPPORT=OFF Changes to this registry variable take effect on the next instance recycle (db2stop;db2start). Reset the registry variable to re-enable 64K pages for shared memory. CONFIGURING 4K PAGES FOR PRIVATE MEMORY: DB2 Version 9.5 and later also use 64K (medium) pages for private memory, when available.
