    Dec 27, 2012 · I bought a new intel z77 motherboard and i7 3770k and currently have an asus p8z68 v pro(not gen 3) with an i5 2500k. I switch out my z68 with my new z77 mobo but keep the same cpu(i5 2500k) with it. In turn, I put my new i7 3770k in the z68 motherboard. The z68 with i7 3770k is for a friend while the new z77 mobo is for me.

    Jun 30, 2012 · I use a z68 MoBo (Sandy bridge plat) with a 2500k. afaik Z77 and Z75's are the only boards that support IB right out of the box. I have updated my z68 BIOS myself to add the support for 22nm (Ivy Bridge). Be careful of this because SB and IB's socket are the same, 1155. If you are planning on buying a new IB cpu along with a mobo, go for a Z77.
