Dec 29, 2014 · If BIOS only sees 4 GB, the OS matters not. Bill is right, make sure you have the right RAM. Also, make sure the board actually supports more than 4 GB! If it doesn't (and there are still boards out there that don't!) it won't matter what RAM you have.4.7/5(7)

Dec 07, 2011 · So I did some reading, and found that Alienware's 2.06 BIOS does not support more than 2gb of RAM. I opted to flash a Alienware Amilo 1.19 BIOS, which I belive was originally intended for Alienware notebooks m5750 and above. Now my issue is that my graphics are horrible and can not be improved even with deleting/reinstalling drivers.

Aug 27, 2011 · Hi there, I have a thread over at the ubuntu forums about my asus g51jx-x2 (with g60jx mobo) not recognizing all 16gb of the installed ram. After reading this blog post, however, this sounds like an ASUS issue, so I thought I'd try posting here. It is strange, because the BIOS definitely recognizes the 16gb of RAM, but will not report it to the OS.
