Jan 01, 2010 · 1. Building libcurl with c-ares support. As suggested by Daniel, I defined USE_ARES in the libcurl project and built it. There were no compiler or link errors, so I assume libcurl has built-in c-ares support and it doesn't require any additional h or lib files. Could you please confirm this. BTW, why doesn't libcurl use ares by default? 2.

Feb 07, 2011 · Hey, would it be possible to build libcurl with c-ares support ? It would allow libcurl to perform async DNS lookup. Most (all ?) distro currently forget to add that support, which is very bad for libcurl users or libraries using libcurl.

Consider building libcurl with c-ares support to enable asynchronous DNS lookups, which enables nice timeouts for name resolves without signals. " C-ares is in fedora and the license is compatible to curl. Consider rebuilding curl with --enable-ares=/some/path

The distributed ares_build.h file is generated as a copy of ares_build.h.dist when the c-ares source code distribution archive file is originally created. If you check out from git on a non-configure platform, you must run the appropriate buildconf* script to set up ares_build.h and other local files before being able to compile the library.
