Okay, lets start from scratch select what you want to export as eps. Doesn't matter where on the page/workspace that it is. Hit cntrl+e (export) choose file name and location, choose eps and selected only, hit Export. Next window, Uncheck "Convert spot colors to", "Preview image" to none, "Export text as" curves, PostScript level 2 is fine.
