Oct 24, 2008 · I don't think you can install SQL Server 2008 on VMWare, period. I have the same problem, and if you look at Microsoft KB on hardware and software requirements, look under virtualization and it says it only supports Hyper-V only at this time as I believe the other virtual applications are under certification process.

Next, I exported the OVF template and imported it into another/different ESX 5i server.
