I have Quicktime Pro, which does everything I need - except that in my current scenario, I'd like to use the DVCPRO/HD codec. Is it available as a separate download? If not, why not? Paying for a whole package of programs for just one component is ridiculous.

May 26, 2006 · QuickTime 7.0.4 is "Universal" as is 7.1 and the recent 7.1 update should allow you to play DVCPRO HD files on the Intel machine. Try running the file under a different user account. This can help isolate issues. Compare the third party codecs installed on both machines. Remove them (drag to Desktop) and relaunch QT.

Mar 02, 2006 · Quicktime doesn't seem to support the DVCPro HD codec on the Windows platform (unless someone knows something I don't—Pro version?) so after Google brought me to VideoLAN, I gave it a try on my wife's PC, a HP Pavilion laptop running Windows XP with the latest Quicktime Player updates, and VLC media player installed.

If Focus doesn't make clear on the Firestore box (or whatever) that you need Final Cut Pro installed to play back DVCPRO HD recordings in Quicktime format, then that's Focus' problem, and your friend should simply return the device, since he doesn't meet the requirements for using it.

Quicktime on Clipster can be uninstalled. Clipster does use the application for legacy codec and by removing the application support for these formats will be unavailable. Clipster has extensive support for different file formats, and R&S has made it a priority to limit the dependency on QuickTime libraries for read and write support.
