May 20, 2018 · Yeah it does, for actions (like nand dumping) carried out in the menu it brings up from RCM. Once you leave the menu and the Switch's OS takes over, that uses its own file system code, and needs the update for exfat. Maybe there'll be a hack way to install the exfat driver without updating the system, maybe there won't, but there isn't yet.

NTFS is a proprietary filesystem from Microsoft. Only Windows will ever officially support it (unless something of Apple's does, but I doubt it). The better chance is that it would support exFAT, but I don't think anything has been announced about that.
