Aug 15, 2017 · The code you are using should work fine in IE7 to determine that the "Enable Native XMLHTTP Support" option is checked. You can set the IE's document mode to check this issue. It seems that the window.XMLHttpRequest is always working on IE 8 and IE8+ no matter that the Enable Native XMLHTTP Support" option is checked or not.

Mar 10, 2011 · Opened IE and logged into admin CMS [email me for login details] while "Native XMLHttpRequest Support" is disabled. Found the browser fell back to old XML parser "Microsoft.XMLHTTP." If enabled and installed, IE would use MSXML6 [ MSXML2 .XMLHTTP].
