The Fedora Wiki directs it's readers to buy a gstreamer plugin to enable mp3 playback. In the end I found instructions for getting the support from rpmfusion - yet another addon repo for Fedora.     Jul 26, 2007 · I am running Kubuntu 6.10 & Amarok 1.44. I had libxine-extracodecs installed, and was unable to play MP3 files. I am currently able to play m4a files without any problems. When I start Amarok a box pops up that asks me if I want to install mp3 support, I say yes. If libxine-extracodecs is installed the box goes away and nothing happens.
