Aug 23, 2013 · Some hardwar and drivers claim to support it, but really don't. Additionally, FreeNAS wasn't designed with the expectation that you'll be swapping drives in and out regularly. If that's your plan you're going to have a lot of work to do because you're going to be constantly export and importing pools which probably isn't the best thing in the world to do.

I just thought I'd share this story. I've heard quite a lot about iXsystems and FreeNAS over the years and really wanted to use it but I could never get the business to support it because of the lack support. The FreeNAS community is wonderful, but the business would never accept that as a risk.
