In 2003, the Galway Rape Crisis Centre had 17 new asylum seeker/refugee referrals. In 2004 there were 11 and this number increased again in 2005 to 23. The organisation is the largest regional Rape Crisis Centre and has the highest proportion of asylum seeker clients nationally at just under 21%.
