Not really. Both uses of the Focus are essential. In the Jade Master difficulty, Martial Styles deal very little damage, hence using a Weapon Style is recommended, along with Chi Damage to actually feel some small, yet significant damage. Otherwise, your enemy will just laugh at your punches and kicks as they seem to tickle him/her/it.
