From the wording of your question I assume that you are installing Server 2012 R2 and the adding the Hyper-V role, or are you actually installing the product called "Hyper-V Server 2012 R2" which is a different SKU in the Microsoft catalog.

Dec 27, 2017 · I just moved some Hyper-V vm's off of a G5 onto a G6 and the performance improvement on the G6 was drastic. Hyper-V does indeed work on a G5, but it seems to me that their must have been a big advance in virtualization performance from that generation of Intel proc to the next. Just wanted you to know what to expect performance-wise.
