Apr 24, 2014 · If I were doing it, I'd pull the pinion support out, take it apart, inspect the bearings. Get a new crush sleeve and seal, put it back together, press the yoke on till there's just a little bit of free play, then tighten the nut with a bigass wrench, while the yoke is in the vise, a little bit at a time until it has the specified bearing preload for used bearings.

I'm not rebuilding the third member as it's fine just pinion support and pinon are both leaking or one is leaking. So while it's out new seals all the way around.

Sep 22, 2017 · The pinion nut torque spec is 200-220 ft lbs. But I wondered if the new nut with fewer threads is up to that torque. I emailed Herm and asked if that torque was ok, and if not, what torque should I use with the nylock nut. He gave this vague reply "I think that is a bit much for torque".
