To enable kernel mode in the rp-pppoe pppoe-server you need to compile it with the --enable-plugin=/ppp-2.4.4 option. but that option needs a small patch (stolen from the Slackware build). Attached are a patch to the PKGBUILD and the patch for rp-pppoe's ./configure.

As of this writing, PPPoE support exists in the experimental 2.3 kernels and is expected to be included in the final 2.4 kernels.
