Note that latest Raspbmc releases have an XBMC bug that results in an noisy output on the HiFiBerry boards. I strongly recommend upgrading to OSMC or OpenElec based on Kodi (successor of XBMC). Oct 14, 2014 · My current (latest?) version of "alsa-utils" (alsamixer) in RaspBMC is 1.0.25-4 I've verified the rest of the system (amp + speakers) and it works perfectly fine form another source. I get same result above with both HifiBerry DAC+, so not a DAC HW problem. Any suggestions ? Can happily provide more info if needed (omitted for the sake of brevity)

snd_soc_hifiberry_digi Close the Editor and save the hifiberry.conf. The problem now is, that you can't use the omxplayer any more (it doesn't support ALSA driver as far as I know) so you have to use the built in dvdPlayer. You can make it your standard player with a little more code in your advancedsettings.xml.
