Sep 20, 2006 · I cant hear rear sound anywhere though I have configured 4 speakers every where. But only at dxdiag wizard when i am clicking at TestDirectSound then sound is coming at all rear and front speakers. And after that the msg below is appeared. "your sound card does not support hardware buffering. Sounds will only play back from software buffers."

One way to fix this would be to add the option in the sound menu to switch between hardware or software buffering, with software being default, as software buffering does not depend on the card supporting it. depending on the sound libraries being used, however, they may have to code their own software buffering scheme, which would take time.
