Jun 15, 2019 · TRIM is a function that the operating system can use to inform our SSD, which blocks are no longer used. Full support for TRIM was added to the Linux kernel in version 3.7. Should not care about TRIM because almost all distributions have automated the process and most likely have configured the operating system to perform it once a week.

Mar 25, 2009 · The closest thing I found to information about SSD TRIM support was on a blog post about SSDs. The post seems to imply that file systems are already ready to support ATA TRIM for SSDs, but the vendors are holding back on hardware TRIM support. Maybe it's hard to find talk about kernel-side TRIM support in SSDs because no SSDs support TRIM yet.
