Still no go. Regardless of format or partitions, the media player does not seem to like WDTV Live boxes (have three of them in different generations, Plus and non-Plus versions). It tops out at 3TB. Finally called WD technical support and the response was quick and point blank: 3TB is the upper limit for WDTV Live.

Oct 15, 2015 · I would buy one for my WDTV but obviously if it doesnt work then I won’t, hence that is a lost sale. I hope the packaging of the 3TB Mybook clearly explains that it is not compatible, otherwise I expect many people will buy it and then have to return it when they find out it doesnt work. Thanks for the link, I guess that settles it.

Dec 27, 2011 · 1. It should support 3TB NTFS formatted USB 3.0 external hard drives (All my MKV 1080p videos are in two of those Seagate Goflex 3 TB drives) ? My research showed that many players like NeoTV 550 or WDTV HD do not have this support and won't detect external drives above 2TB. 2. Should play Bluray backups, ISOs, MKVs etc. all 2D.

Jul 12, 2014 · I upgraded to this WD TV media player from the previous WD TV Live 4 months ago for playing a movie collection of about 550 from a WD 3TB USB 3.0 Passport drive. I'm not using any other feature just movie playing so this review concerns only movie playing.3.8/5(466)

Jun 08, 2011 · I'd imagine if the WDTV did there would be a few people talking about it on the forums. Just partition the 3TB drive to two 1.5TB drives and they should both show up. It's not ideal but it'll take 30 seconds and will hold you over until it's fixed on the players. I don't know about WDTV but the Boxee hardware does support 3TB drives.

Aug 06, 2013 · I read all over this forum and found out that 3TB HDDs are supported with my version of WDLXTV (1.05.04 - 0.5.1.1). I have a Toshiba 3TB USB 3.0 drive connected and it is not recognized during boot. Sometimes the WDTV Live device doesn´t even boot properly when the drive is connected. It is also not recognized when I plug in the HDD after bootup.
