Sep 23, 2010 · Internet Explorer Platform Preview Build 6 adds support for CSS3 2D Transforms. (Internet Explorer 9 Beta does not yet support CSS3 2D Transforms, but support is planned for a future release.) So I’m not completely sure this means it will be part of IE9’s full release, but we’ll have to see how it progresses. Good news nonetheless.

HTML5 and CSS3 is not supported to a great extent on IE8. I would suggest you to use Firefox 4 from the 'Gecko' browser family or Google chrome or Safari (if you are on MacOSX) from the 'Webkit' browser family. They have great support for HTML5. Although I haven't tried it myself, I hear IE9 has excellent support for HTML5.

Sep 28, 2010 · While IE9 doesn’t specifically support some of the elements that hold purely semantic value, the browser does support the notion of anonymous elements. Which basically means, where IE8 would ignore a tag it didn’t recognise, IE9 will assume the developer knows best and will render a standard HTML Element.
