Multiseat configuration - Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-station
Currently the most pointed solutions by X.Org's wiki are the solutions using either multiple Xephyr servers with deprecated evdev support over a host Xorg, or run several instances of Xorg using multiple video devices. It is quite easy to configure popular distributions such as Ubuntu to provide multiseat environments as documented on the Ubuntu MultiseatX wiki page.

    https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Multiseat_Configuration/Xephyr
The original Xephyr gets the input devices events from its parent X server. However, to allow Xephyr to be used in the multiterminal, we had to modify its source code to make it read the events directly from kernel event interface, bypassing X. To read the mouse and keyboard events, the evdev protocol is used.

linux - Xephyr with evdev on SLES 12 SP3 - Stack Overflow

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49781131/xephyr-with-evdev-on-sles-12-sp3
Apr 11, 2018 · I have two touch screen devices currently working in SLES 12 SP3. What I would like to do is have Xephyr run a separate (essentially multiseat) window on the second monitor with it's own touch screen independent of the main screen.

Linux Console Project / Re: Xephyr instead of Xnest

Xephyr does have other advantages over Xnest - server side support for modern X extensions like XRender, XRandr, XDamage etc. > What kind of work (or costs) would be involved to: > 1. use the xv extension for video overlays > 2. handle the keyboard leds properly > 3. use nvidia 3d hardware excelleration (1) I think would be possible and *maybe* not that hard.

Sep 01, 2006 · Xephyr is included in the universe repository from Ubuntu. The bad news The Xephyr version included in the Ubuntu repository, does not support evdev. I hope in a near future Xephyr comes with evdev upport. Right now, you will have either to patch the Xephyr sources and compile it, or download an already patched solution.

Xephyr does not support hardware acceleration. Instead, software rendering with llvmpipe is used, as your output shows. You can try to improve your setup with VirtualGL. (By the way, you don't need sudo for Xephyr)

Jun 11, 2013 · I am having trouble routing/attaching one of these keyboard/mouse pairs to a particular Xephyr/X11 server instance. Instead, BOTH pairs are being attached to the same Xephyr/X instance, meaning one screen has no method of obtaining input and sits there idly while the other screen can be controlled by both pairs of input devices.

19365 – Some keys don't work in Xephyr or Xnest

    https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19365
This is because Xephyr seems to be using the base XKB ruleset and the host machine the evdev ruleset. They need to have the same keycode-keysym table, otherwise the codes get mixed up.

Xephyr allows to specify from which devices it shall accept input (via -keybd and -mouse switches). The current version (1.11.4-1) does not enable support for evdev drivers that allow better isolation then the default (?) ephyr one.
